A new poem folks.
This one uses 27 impossible rhymes to go with unrhymeable colours, such as orange, purple and beige.

Soap Box is Up
Yes folks, I finally have a general purpose place from which to broadcast my opinions. This will be used for matters that aren't large enough to warrant their own section. I intend to cover a large range of topics but I have begun with just a couple of computer topics.
Check It Out.
Since this new section will require an RSS feed and since it would be silly for my site to have 3 or more feeds I have to decided to consolidate my feeds into one: this one! My blog specific feed: Martian Misery will be discontinued and deleted and future blog entry notifications will appear here. New soap box content will also be notified here.
All future content additions from all sections will appear here. Got it?
Good!

Martian Art Galleries Are Up!
Ever wondered what my paintings and drawings look like? Well now you can find out without having to leave your computer.
I've created and uploaded my Visual Art section, which comprises a set of galleries of my best works as well as a theory section which will soon house my famous Colour Wheel!

Camera Diatribe Rewritten!
Well it turned out that I made a number of incorrect assumptions in my previous analysis of the Physics of Cameras. I admit that I was wrong on a number of points and I apologise for my errors. The main thrust of my analysis, detailing the effect of Poisson Aliasing on camera behaviour remains correct but some assumptions I made with respect to aperture, maximum electron count and Bayer interpolation were well wide of the mark, resulting in some numbers that were out of the ballpark.
Thanks to the folks at Luminous Landscape forums, who alerted me to my errors, I have rejigged the whole diatribe and this time I have actually proved my results with real output from a range of real cameras.
Along the way I had to derive an optical formula from first principles, setup and solve an equation in double integrals and write a diagnostic app in "C".
For Science Geeks Only!.

Mr Mars' Camera Resolution Diatribe
Think you understand the theoretical basis for Digital Cameras? Huh! Unless you are on the R&D staff for some major manufacturer I very much doubt it.
I set about trying to figure it all out late last year and it has certainly been a surprising journey. You won't find this stuff anywhere else on the net, no doubt the big companies know it all but they keep their secrets to themselves.
I figured most of this out from first principles and the few facts that I could glean from the web. It all adds up though and matches the facts, so I am confident that I've got it pretty right.

A Few Ribald Poems
I have written a number of ribald poems over the years, invariably riding on the ideas of others, but this is ok since I am happy to give them credit. I was reticent to publish these works, not wishing to become typecast like Rodney Rude or Kevin "Bloody" Wilson. However, everyone whose opinion I valued that I spoke to on the issue said: "Publish and be damned!". I find it hard to argue with that sentiment so HERE THEY ARE!

The Martian Way website rewritten!
Yes I finally got around to it and rewrote the old website in pure HTML.
Most of the old stuff is still there but there are also some new additions such as the "Life On The Dole" section. You can also download that album as well as "A Young Man's Love" and "My Sister Is A Teenybopper". Furthermore I note that the songs now stream on my browsers thanks to the new Quicktime Plugin..
